Sales Team Training

Then I heard this Psychology PhD Say— “…if it is not complicated enough people won’t like it.  People love things that are complex.  It makes them feel smart and the materials look important. Make what ever simple solution you have and make it complex – and you will get better buy-in.”

I experimented with this and discovered that when you present any program to a multiple buyer network (large corporation), complex IS better.  It struck me as amazing.  This also explained why one or two three-inch binders of material always accompanied most sales team training. It made it look more scholarly, and definitely ‘worth’ something.

The odd part is that if you did follow through on that new complex sales training you discovered that people created their own Cliff’s Notes.  In other words, two 3-ring binders of about three inches each were consolidated into just a few pages so that you could work with it.

What really good training in the 21st Century does is start you out with the Cliff’s Notes so that you do not lose interest before you get to the application part.  Can you imagine a sales consultant team doing sales team training on just the salient points of a sales system, so that everyone could get almost instant results? It is magic.  To be able to actually take a group of sales consultants and train the up as one unit, AND have them duplicate what is said so they can DO the actions right away is absolutely magic.

When looking for sales team training, remember to follow Einstein’s advice…

“Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.” Albert Einstein
